Our vision

Redeemer Sugar Land is a community of faith, provoked by the Redeemer's grace, to share His Unity, Comfort, and Healing with Sugar Land and beyond.

Gathering to worship is essential in our spiritual pilgrimage of knowing God and ourselves. We gather to remember God’s promise to renew our souls, families, communities, and world.

Our history

Redeemer Sugar Land began in 2007 as a fellowship group meeting Sunday mornings at Christ the King Presbyterian Church in Houston, and Sunday evenings in Sugar Land. Eight families attended our first worship service on Pentecost Sunday 2008. Today we have a youthful and diverse congregation of 100, with children and teens making up roughly half of our congregation. We are thankful for a multi-ethnic church that reflects some of the rich diversity of Sugar Land, and we welcome a broader racial diversity that reflects our community. We have worshipped in a home, two elementary schools, and a movie theater before renting our current location on a Lutheran church campus. We purchased land in 2015, in the Greatwood Lakes community, across the street from an elementary school. We hope to develop our property in a way that blesses our community as well as inspiring worship of our Redeemer. We are currently looking for an assistant pastor to grow our ministry to the youth and the community.

Our Sunday worship

Before each Sunday worship service, many members are directly involved in the set up and preparation of the sanctuary. A wonderful mingling of generations takes place as this happens, and the same is true after services for take down. We are a community that is marked by our love for each other and all people.

Our Sunday worship is rich and liturgical. We have many musically gifted church members who lead us in a way that is both sacred and vibrant, ancient and contemporary. We celebrate a joy-filled and weekly communion. Our services are family integrated, and it is common to see children of every age with their parents throughout the service.

Sugar Land

Sugar Land is a largely affluent suburb southwest of Houston in Fort Bend County. Along with being one of the fastest growing, Fort Bend County is also one of the most ethnically diverse counties in America, with a variety of religious faiths represented. Our area ranges from affluent master-planned communities to low income neighborhoods. The professional population tends to be transient, because of the nature of industry prevalent in Houston and its surrounding suburbs.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking a pastor who loves God, and who is committed wholly to the Word, prayer, and personal holiness. We want a man who is passionate about building community among the various generations at our church. He should have a passion for missions and evangelism, and an appreciation for the unique access the diversity both our congregation and our community provide to accomplish this end. He should humbly be faithful to the pastoral guidelines set down by Paul in Titus and 1 Timothy. He should be comfortable reaching out to a wide range of visitors — the affluent, the seeker, the mature believer, the hurting, and the lonely.
