  • JANAS CARUNCHO

    lead pastor

Janas grew up in Northern New Jersey.  He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton School) with a B.S. in Economics. He attended Westminster Theological Seminary, where he earned his Master of Divinity. After working in the business world as a management consultant, God called him into full-time pastoral ministry. He served as the pastor of reGeneration in New Jersey for over a decade before coming to Redeemer. Janas is happily married to his wife Esther and they have three children, Zoe, Johannes, and Alethea.

Janas is thankful that God has called him to shepherd Redeemer and minister to our community in Sugar Land, Texas.  Janas is passionate about building bridges among different people and bringing God's people together as one in worship of our Lord.  He enjoys preaching God's Word, shepherding God's flock, and learning about different cultures and cuisines.

  • Kevin ArÉvalo

    Assistant Pastor

Kevin is from the bagel and pizza capital of the world - Long Island, New York! He's a second-generation Salvadorian who lives in the "hyphen" of Salvadorian-American. He's a graduate of Liberty University with a degree in Psychology. He attended Reformed Theological Seminary (Orlando) where he obtained his Master of Divinity. Kevin has been married to Beverly since 2013. They both said they would never marry another Salvadorian and they're grateful for God's sense of humor! They have three young children, Adriana, Diego, and Matias. After graduating seminary they moved to Queens, NYC where Kevin served on staff at a church. However, God had different plans and lead the Arevalos to Sugar Land! Kevin is excited to minister to the students and parents of Redeemer as well as provide oversight to the Community Groups. Kevin enjoys preaching (and learning about preaching), exploring the beauty of cities & urban areas, going on walks with the family, and hanging out with friends over good coffee. Kevin's upbringing has planted in his heart a domestic and international desire: to see the church in the States reflect gospel diversity and to some day help equip and train pastors in El Salvador.

  • Lore mullins

    children's ministry

Lore is a southern belle from Tennessee, but she got to Texas as

fast as she could and has made Sugar Land her home since 2010. She's wife to Joel and Momma to four delightful little boys; Cooper, Graham, Henry, and Miller. Lore is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a degree in Journalism and Public Relations. She's had various roles working in Advertising and Marketing but has spent several years as a nanny, MDA camp counselor, gymnastics/dance/cheer instructor and gym director. The Lord has gifted her for working with preschool children and next to being Momma, serving the children and families at RSL is the best job! She's quite crafty when she gets the opportunity and enjoys homeschooling, being outdoors, watching the boys play sports, family bike rides, going to the beach, and summer days by the pool.

  • TIM THOMPSON

    Music Director

Tim is from the great state of Oklahoma. He attended the University of Central Oklahoma where he completed his bachelors in music performance in trombone.  He then moved to New York City to attend the Manhattan School Of Music for his masters in music for bass trombone. While in New York City he met his future wife April, who was working on her masters in music for piano.  While living in NYC, Tim served as the worship music coordinator at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. He soon realized that he had a great desire to produce and foster beautiful music in the church. They moved to Texas in 2015 and quickly found Redeemer SL to be the church community they gravitated towards. They love being a part of the community at Redeemer SL and find it invaluable that their two girls, Lydia and Stella, are nurtured and cared for by the entire church community as if they were their own children.

  • Sarah Kuo

    MUSIC DIRECTOR

Sarah was born and raised in Connecticut. She grew up listening to her parents sing in the choir of their tightly knit Korean immigrant church and played keys in the youth group praise band. She graduated with a B.M. in Piano Performance at The Juilliard School and Ed. M. in Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She met her husband, Mike, at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City where together they served on the launch team for the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church plant. Sarah served as Emmanuel’s Music Coordinator for nine years.

In 2013, after moving cross country, Sarah knew they found their church family at Redeemer Sugar Land by the gospel-centered teaching, caring community, and worshipful music. She has since served in Redeemer’s music ministry singing and playing keys, coordinating special music offertory, and bringing music recitals to nursing homes. She leads a Redeemer praise band with her husband on guitar and their three musical children, Daniel (cello), Sophia (keys), and Carissa (fiddle). “We become what we worship,” and Sarah’s chief joy is to engage the congregation in worshipful music for an audience of One.
