    lead pastor

    Janas grew up in West Orange, New Jersey, and lived in the Northern NJ area for most of his adult life. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton School) with a B.S. in Economics. He attended Westminster Theological Seminary, where he earned his Master of Divinity. After working in the business world as a management consultant for 7 years, God called him into full-time pastoral ministry. He served as the pastor of reGeneration in New Jersey for 12 years before coming to Redeemer. Janas is happily married to his wife Esther and they have three children, Zoe, Johannes, and Alethea. 

    Janas is excited that God has called his family to Redeemer and to Sugar Land, Texas.  Janas is passionate about building bridges among different people and bringing God's people together as one in worship of our Lord.  He enjoys preaching God's Word, shepherding God's flock, and learning about different cultures and cuisines.  


    children's ministry

    Carrie was born and raised in Round Rock, Texas.  She attended Texas A&M, where she earned a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (4-8 Grade Math and Science) and met her husband, Ben.  She taught 5th and 6th grade math and science for four years, in both Waco and Amarillo, before deciding to stay at home with her children.  Ben and Carrie have called Sugar Land home since 2012, and they have three children who keep them busy: Carson (6), Betsy (4), and Christopher (3).



    Tim Thompson is our lead musician.


    communications director

    Laurien was born in Houston and is a graduate of Houston Baptist University where she received a B.A. in Biblical Languages with a minor in Philosophy. She is currently attending Fuller Theological Seminary. Laurien spent the last five years working in the oil and gas industry while also leading worship for various churches and ministries around the Houston area. She is passionate about spiritual formation and discipleship. She enjoys good books, good food and football.
